A Sense of Adventure

July 11, 2012 by admin

Part of how our life works, and how this website works, is to perpetuate a sense of adventure.  The Fam has fun doing all sorts of things because we appreciate the adventure of life.  Need a toilet seat? That’s an adventure.  A chance to taste test cheese at an unknown supermarket?  That’s an adventure.   You don’t need a roller-coaster and a $50 ticket to have fun.

We view everything that needs to be done for our house, each parent’s ‘To-do” list, as a learning experience that is enjoyable to boot!

Bluey wakes up each day asking, “What Mission are we going on today?”  Frequently enough the answer is “Grocery Shopping.”  Or, “We’re doing laundry.”  And he enjoys each mission and looks forward to the next one.

There are always people to meet and interesting sights to see along the way.  We don’t force our kids to sit quietly in a corner while we conduct our business.  We actively involve them in every aspect of each experience.

Recently, our mission took us to a warehouse district to find a new bedframe for Mom and Dad at American Freight.  Bluey and Plum happily tested every single couch and love-seat in the vast building while Mom and Dad selected a bedframe.  A month later, when the bed arrived, Bluey hopped in the car to pick it up, and supervised the guys who tied it to the roof.

We try to make everything we do a fun experience for everyone.
