  1. Puzzle Pieces

    October 11, 2012 by admin

A good jigsaw puzzle can work the same magic often experienced at a family meal in relation to how it will encourage conversation and enable bonding time.  An additional bonus- – puzzles help your child’s intellectual development  as well as train adult brains to stay sharp.

Tip:  Puzzles are a super cheap find at rummage sales and thrift stores.  But even if you choose to buy them retail, the cost is minimal.

Recently, a puzzle helped us break the ice and enjoy a great time with a family member that we don’t see very often.  We giggled and gossiped as we struggled to find pieces that would fit together.  It was good bonding time.

It took 2 days to finish this 500 piece puzzle.

In order to keep our work relatively undisturbed by our cats and our youngest child, we usually place a few sheets of newspaper on top of the puzzle in process.  But we’ve also had success with working directly on top of a sturdy piece of cardboard that can then be transported to a safe spot.

When the weather outside is uninviting, or it is too late in the day for an adventure, don’t forget the simple joy of a puzzle.  It can be a great way to spend a few quiet hours as a family!
